Oh hello! Thank you for subscribing. I imagine you're here because we've run together, you follow me on Instagram, or you're my mom. :) I used to write a lot about my hobby jogging during the glory days of blogs (2010! What a time to be alive). And I kind of miss it. Sure, I have a running log for all the nitty gritty details, but to me, this is so much more than data. It’s about everything else that’s going on in my life — the day-to-day grind, the bad nights of sleep, the people who make this kind of silly (but also very important!) activity what it is.
This newsletter will be mostly about my training for the Philadelphia Marathon on November 20, 2022, but with for a bit of commentary on life with kids and figuring out next steps in my professional life. To be honest, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. Marathon training has begun and I’m aiming for 48 miles this week, which is a lot for me! Especially these days. I’m also preparing/stressing about some travel next week (our first big international trip as a family of 4, rescheduled from March of 2020), and trying to work part time without regular childcare. I keep reminding myself that this isn’t a sprint. I just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Pace myself.
The little monsters that are equal parts amazing and tiring AF. Okay, maybe a 70-30 split.
Anyway, if you are interested in my journey over the next 13 weeks, I’d love to have you around for the ride. I can’t promise impressive insights or Olympic level workouts, but if you want a peek at real life, you’ve come to the right place. I’m just an (almost) 38 year old lady with two kids and a busy schedule trying to figure it all out.
P.S. Maybe next week I’ll put in words what my (very scary!) goal is for this dang marathon.
One thing I am loving this week: Tracksmith Lane 5 shorts. These are great for holding fuel for long runs and don’t ride up. I also love the Van Cortland shorts for easy runs and just every day life. Not sponsored! I wish, hah. I just live in this brand’s bottoms. They fit my body well (I don’t have much in the way of a booty) and they hold up well in the washer/dryer. Fun fact, I wash everything on warm, all together.
This is Pace Yourself, a newsletter about Mostly running with a side of kids.
